Thing 130

I really enjoyed watching Steven Kimmi’s “Traveling through the Dark”.  Kimmi made some excellent points.  When making decisions, it is so easy and comforting to pick the familiar path.  However, is the familiar parth always the best route to take?

If we teach the same thing the same way year after year, while the rest of the world is changing, we are doing a diservice to our students.  There is so much technology to integrate into the classroom.  The technology provides a means to make the learning engaging and relevant.

Kimmel stated something about teachers needing to learn the technology first, before they introduce it to their students.  Although this might be obvious to some, it struck a chord with me.  I learned it’s important to really take the time to work with the technology so I can introduce it to my class.

It will be a change for me, but change is good.  This session was certainly worth my while.  The “pj” conference makes all the difference.  I felt like Steven was talking directly to me.
